A hidden gem of tranquility
My stay at Hibiscus House was a dream, filled with the sounds of chirping birds and the aroma of freshly cooked meals. The warm and welcoming staff made every moment memorable, truly creating a home away from home. Waking up to the delightful fruits and warm breads at breakfast set a lovely tone for the day, while the surrounding gardens and pools provided the perfect space to unwind and soak in nature's beauty. Exploring the nearby town of Brufut felt safe and enriching, connecting us with the local culture.
While the experience was wonderful, the service was notably slow at times, which is typical of the relaxed pace in Gambia. As we were often the only guests, it took a bit longer to receive attention, but it was manageable and never spoiled our enjoyment of the relaxing atmosphere.

The two swimming pools offer a refreshing escape, with plenty of sun beds available, making it easy to relax without the usual towel wars. The location in a tranquil village allows for peaceful mornings filled with bird songs, enhancing the overall serene vibe of the stay.
The pool felt quite cold and smaller than expected, limiting enjoyment for those looking to swim. Getting to nearby amenities like supermarkets and popular tourist spots requires a bit of a trek on foot, and taxi availability can be hit or miss, which can be a hassle especially in the slow pace of the area. A few maintenance issues around the property, like plumbing in some rooms and lack of privacy from light curtains, could be addressed to enhance comfort during the stay.

The staff were incredibly attentive, always making sure
we had everything we needed without being intrusive. The gardens were a beautiful mix of colors and wildlife, making every breakfast feel enchanting. The only downside was the bathroom's need for modernization, which could have added to the overall experience.

Hibiscus House provided a delightful stay. The room, a Double Room with Pool View, was spacious and clean with a refrigerator and a hot pot, which made my mornings easy. I loved the view of the pool surrounded by lush gardens. The staff, particularly Buba, were welcoming and eager to provide recommendations for local attractions. The food stood out with a delicious mix of African dishes. I especially enjoyed the daily specials. a few areas did need attention. The toilet wasn't securely attached to the floor, which made it unstable. There were also some maintenance issues with a few broken sunbeds and an occasional sighting of cockroaches. Despite these inconveniences, the vibrant atmosphere and commitment from the staff made the stay enjoyable.
